Holly Power Plant Image

The Holly Street Power Plant (the Plant) is for sale. Austin Energy prefers to sell the Plant as a complete operating unit, however this is subject to change based on recommendations from Weston Solutions, Inc. (consultant). As a result, equipment may be sold separately.

Equipment
The natural-gas fired, 570 megawatt (MW) Plant operates on four condensing steam turbine generators.

Schedule
The decommissioning process is currently in Phase I of III. The process is as follows:

  1. Weston Solutions, Inc., Austin Energy's consultant, together with John Buckert, CMIR will identify prospective buyers and recommend an appropriate method of sale. The consulting team will present its disposition recommendations to Austin Energy by December 2008. John Buckert's recommendations will be based on serious inquiries by prospective buyers, market conditions at the time of the sale, the Plants environmental footprint and other criteria as determined by Austin Energy.
  2. Austin Energy will qualify and pre-approve bidders in 2009. The bid/negotiation processes will begin, and Austin Energy will select the buyer.
  3. The Plant will be decommissioned in the fall of 2009.
