Holly Plant Decommissioning Project

Work began this week on constructing the haul road into the Holly Plant.   Before removing the Holly Plant, the TRC team has to construct this road connecting to Pedernales street.  This temporary road will be used to remove all equipment and material from the plant.  After all the work at the Holly Plant has been completed, the road will be removed and the area will return to Metz park.

As mentioned earlier, the trail will not be detoured and remain in place as is until demolition is completed.  All hikers and bikers please use caution when approaching the haul road connecting Cesar Chavez and the Holly Plant.

Workers at the plant are actively constructing the containment enclosures for the asbestos removal.  These enclosures prevent the release of any asbestos particulates into the atmosphere.  This work is necessary and part of the project safety procedures and compliance regulations.  Currently, there are approximately 35 personel working at the site.  All personel have attended hazard safety training and passed all necessary background checks.
