We just wanted to share these photos of this week’s work on the Metz Parking Lot. The TRC team painted the final stripes today. You will be able to leave your car in the parking lot next week.
We are still removing asbestos and now working on Holly Unit 2.

Adios Asbestos! We are still in the 2nd phase of the project: abatement removal and asbestos is now leaving the Holly Plant. The TRC team is still hard at work removing asbestos from Holly Unit 1. Here are a few pictures from the site:
This is the Haul Route for the trucks:
Trucks will not operate between the hours of 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. during the week, when children are traveling to and from school. Trucks leaving the plant will exit on Pedernales and turn right on Cesar Chavez. Trucks arriving at the plant will follow the same route. Flaggers will be on hand directing the truck traffic.

We are still in the 2nd phase of the project: abatement removal. The TRC team is still hard at work removing asbestos from Holly Unit 1. Additional containers for the asbestos arrived on site this week. We like the orange color – they compliment the other yellow and blue asbestos containers.
Workers are still removing asbestos from Holly 1. By the way, there is no electricity inside so workers have to climb the stairs while the crane is used to move materials and supplies.

Here is your regular scheduled update from the Holly Plant Decommissioning Project Team:
We understand that people still see unit 1 with a plastic wrap. The plastic wrap is designed to keep the wind out of the work area. The wind is very noisy and distracts all the workers from focusing on their job. This is what is happening inside unit 1.
As you can see, he is wiping down the structural steel inside a containment unit.
When working in Asbestos areas, you need to remove the filtered air from inside the enclosure.
Also, we have begun working on removing asbestos from the turbine generators.

While some of the team has been hard at work inside the plant, we would like to highlight the hard work done by some of our team members. We have finished paving the Metz Recreation Center Parking Lot. This parking lot will be opening soon and will accomodate all the cars currently parking on Pedernales. Pedernales will then be strictly a haul road and entrance for team members to get to work in the morning at the Holly Plant.
